In a move aimed at creating inclusive and sustainable living environments, Paranjape Schemes Construction Private Limited, a Maharashtra-based real estate developer, has announced a partnership with Tarangan Foundation for its upcoming project Swaniketan. The initiative is being developed as India’s first dedicated residential community designed specifically for differently-abled individuals and their families.
The project is being developed under the Paranjape Special Projects Division (PSPD) and is designed to provide a long-term residential ecosystem where families can live with dignity, security, and access to essential support services. Swaniketan will include specially designed family residences along with assisted hostel facilities. The development will also feature common infrastructure such as a vocational training centre, therapy rooms, a daycare facility, recreational areas, and dedicated caregiver support on every floor.
As part of the collaboration, Tarangan Foundation will lead the screening and evaluation process for families interested in becoming residents of the community. The assessment framework will involve detailed medical and psychosocial evaluations, consultations with families, financial readiness checks, and legal planning for long-term care arrangements, including the creation of private trusts and succession planning.
According to Amit Paranjape, Director – Business Development at Paranjape Schemes Construction Private Limited, Swaniketan has been envisioned as more than just a housing project.
“Swaniketan is designed as a lifelong support ecosystem for differently-abled individuals and their families. A structured screening process is important to understand each resident’s care needs, support requirements, and long-term financial preparedness. Our partnership with Tarangan Foundation adds specialised expertise in evaluation and care planning, ensuring that every family joining the community is prepared for long-term support, dignity, and continuity,” he said.
Beena Modak, Director of Tarangan Foundation, highlighted that many parents of individuals with developmental challenges often worry about the future care of their children.
“For many families, the biggest question is what will happen to their children in the future. Swaniketan offers a meaningful solution by creating a secure, purpose-built residential environment that supports lifelong care. Through our partnership, we will work closely with families through structured assessments and planning to ensure residents are prepared for a stable and dignified future,” she said.
The collaboration strengthens the care-focused framework of Swaniketan by incorporating professional evaluation systems and long-term planning within the residential model. The initiative has already seen significant interest, with more than 200 families undergoing the screening process and over 75 families shortlisted during the initial phase ahead of the project’s launch.
Developers say the response reflects a growing demand for structured, inclusive residential communities designed to provide long-term security and support for differently-abled individuals in India.
