Bengaluru, February 12, 2026 — The Chikkaballapur district administration has imposed a full-day entry ban at Nandi Hills on February 14, 2026, coinciding with Valentine’s Day. This marks the first time authorities have completely shut the popular hill station on this date.
The restriction will run from 6 am to 6 pm. During these hours, no tourists or private vehicles will be permitted inside the premises. Officials stated that the measure is necessary to handle expected heavy crowds and maintain public safety.
Nandi Hills, located around 60 kilometres north of Bengaluru, is a well-known weekend getaway famous for its breathtaking sunrise views, cool climate, and historical structures, including forts linked to Tipu Sultan. The site draws large numbers of visitors from the city, particularly young people seeking peaceful outings.
On occasions like Valentine’s Day, the hill station typically sees a sharp rise in footfall as many head there for romantic sunrise trips. Authorities expect thousands of people could arrive, leading to traffic congestion, parking issues, and potential law and order challenges.
Past restrictions have been applied during peak periods such as New Year celebrations, but a complete closure specifically for Valentine’s Day is a new step. The decision aims to prevent overcrowding and related risks, including concerns about unsafe behaviour.

Tourists planning to visit Nandi Hills on February 14 are advised to cancel or reschedule their trips. Alternative nearby spots for outings remain open, though visitors should check local guidelines.
The administration has urged the public to cooperate with the temporary closure to ensure smooth operations and safety for everyone. Updates can be followed through official district channels.
